From Cersai-level Shame to a Legit Free Coaching Sesh
I’ve made no secret about The Year of My Discontent (chronic fatigue, adrenal fatigue, black mold illness, autoimmune disease, and a breakup with a wonderful partner...yada, yada, yada).
But I never really made public my Cersei-level shame navigating it all. “Why can’t I get my act together? What will people say? I've spent nearly 13 years working in wellbeing, FFS."
My hiding didn’t equal healing. And it certainly didn’t equate to transformation.
Enter: coaching. It. Was. A. Freakin'. Miracle. (insert claps for emphasis)
I was soooooo done with feeling frustrated...and bummed...and stuck...and anxious.
Perhaps you can relate.
I'm not talking "midlife crisis" stuff (that's a highly exaggerated phenomenon, btw).
I'm talking about the legit "40-something dip" backed by the Happiness U-Curve research. (Have you seen it? It ain't pretty.)
Malaise aside, I see this as an opportunity for us to tell a different and more accurate story about midlife. A story that's more illuminating...more forgiving...much less embarrassing and lonely. (I'll leave those feelings to my love of Hallmark Holiday movies. Just me?)
It's also an opportunity to equip my fellow 40-somethings with tangible skills and tools to live in ways that defy the conventional malaise. And to provide an intro to coaching (it's the Wild West out there)...and, in particular, coaching with me.
