Building My Own Damn Pool, That Time I Enjoyed An Extra 2 Inches, and the Liberation Lifestyle

FOR KIDS AND OTHER PEOPLE IN SCHOOL, MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND IS LIKE NEW YEAR’S…

A clean slate…a time of reinvention...with all kinds of bold proclamations about the promise of summer.

As a kid, I used to spend my summers plotting grandiose life upgrades:

  • There was the summer I was convinced I could build myself an in-ground pool with enough wood. (Face palm.)

  • One summer a couple friends and I made up a new language. We didn't share a pair of magical traveling pants, but our “dictionary” featured a Garfield bubble sticker.

  • Another summer, I dedicated myself to increasing my vertical with these beasts. I maybe gained 2 inches in my vertical. I for sure gained 2 inches in the girth of my calves (<-- a line I may never utter again).

Another summer, I listened to Whitney Houston’s Bodyguard soundtrack ad nauseam because my choir director said he’d want me to sing “I Will Always Love You” the next fall. Left to my own devices, I rehearsed aggressively ...trying to mimic Whitney’s sound (and ruining my voice in the process). You should’ve seen the look of horror on my director’s face when I attempted to sing it for him that fall.

These days my summer ambitions are a bit more, uh, considered:

  • Write 2 pages a day. Of what? It’s a secret. ;)

  • Do Wim Hof’s breathing exercise daily. Get to know the Iceman...I mean it.

  • Complete a protocol to detox my body from lingering mold spores. Yeah...they're still hanging around causing allllll kinds of inflammation.

  • Launch the The Bullshift Boot Camp. Yasss, friends. This. Is. Where. It’s. At.

What do you have planned for summer? Does it include liberating yourself from:

  • Frustration about change...both the kind that's happening (collagen) and the kind that's not (career)?

  • Fear about regret and uncertainty (Is there more to look back on than forward to?)?

  • Feeling overwhelmed by responsibility (Kids, parents, money...oh my!)?

I hear you. Join me for The Bullshift Boot Camp, a snappy 6-week experience that gives you the tools--self-acceptance, coaching, rewiring your brain--to build the best relationship with yourself...and a more satisfying life.

  • Because the world is always coming at you with new challenges.

  • But now you can have the tools to handle whatever comes your way.

  • Anytime. Anywhere. For anything.
